Snow, wind, sun, clouds and Devil's Peak, 666m

We set off this morning hoping to follow the sun, the light was magic between the snow storms and we made a stop in Thingvellir , the historical center of Iceland, were the first icelanders used to discuss and organised the country once a year (the Althing, the icelandic parmlement).
After studying the map looking for some easy access north facing slopes, we went into a small valley on a snow covered road. We drove all the way to the last farm, and we got welcomed by a farmer on his horse and his dog, he didn't speak english but we understood that we had to follow him, so here we were, driving in deep snow following this man on his horse, the dog was loving it too... We went into the stables full of friendly looking icelandic horses and a young icelandic girl welcomed us, we told them we were looking for couloirs to ski, she said straight away that she prefered to ride her horse, not really surprising... The were really excited to see us coming down and they decided to follow us to the base of the couloirs on their horses. The couloirs we found above the farm were really nice, with some amazing creamy powder.
We took the road again towards Skessuhorn, our skiplan for the day, the visibility was not great and as we got closer to the mountain, everything was white, too white. We could better see a nice pyramid mountain opposite Borganes with two couloirs coming down, with an altitude of 666m, this was really tempting to check if the devil was hanging out upthere. After some easy skining up, we got stuck just 20m below the summit with a nasty layer of ice under the snow, we managed to crawl up to the top in some really strong wind. The skiing down was surprisingly nice again, good compact creamy powder and 2minutes later we were back at the car, it was 8pm. Great first day...
